Winter interclub is getting down to the final rounds and two of our senior teams are sitting second in their comps. The Thuursday forecast looks a little better this week, so, weather permitting, interclub team training will run from 6-7pm on courts 1 & 2, and the senior club night board will then start from 7pm. Feel free to come along and start hitting on 3 & 4 from 6.30 as usual.
The annual Howard Smith Memorial Doubles Tournament is a men's and women's doubles event, with divisions split between D2–D5 and D6–D8, and open to Counties, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Auckland, and North Harbour tennis associations. Held a week before most of the TennisAuckland interclub competitions start, it's a good chance to get some match practice on your doubles combinations.
The tournament runs 9.30am–4pm, Saturday, 2 September at the Counties Tennis Centre, West St, Pukekohe. Entry fee is $35 per player and includes lunch. Contact Steven Brindle at puke.tennis@orcon.net.nz or enter online at http://www.pukekohetennis.co.nz. Entries close 30 August.
The lounge and table tennis area has been booked for a private function this Saturday evening. Squash and tennis courts and the bar remain open for members, but please be aware of the private booking having priority access to the lounge area around the table tennis table for the evening.
