Wimbledon Mixed Doubles Event

HB's third annual Wimbledon Mixed Doubles tournament was held on Saturday. Members dressed in their best whites and were randomly matched with each other to fight their way to the top of the ladder. Bubbles on arrival may have hindered some in this quest but the matches were played in great spirit and there was some good tennis on display.

Our eventual winners were Ken Christie and Miyuki McEwen with Flemming Rasmussen and Sasha McEwen the runners up. Jack McKinney took out the Best Dressed Gentleman, with special mentions for Ken Christie and Rob Dick. Natalie Edmonds was awarded Best Dressed Lady, special mentions to Sophie Heighway and Bronwyn Dick. There were some lucky spot-prize winners, as well. (No-one claimed the $23m powerball, however.)

A huge thank you to Andrew Berryman (BDM Grange/PriceWise) for the lovely prizes, and to all our organisers and volunteers: Nat, Ange, Pat, Nicky, Shelley, and especially Dave and Jacqui. We look forward to doing it all again next year...but for now we get to concentrate on the real Wimbledon... Enjoy!

Wimbledon Sweepstake Winner and runner up's will be announced at Club Night 7.30pm.

Reminders:

Urgent - Six Bar Volunteers needed

We are still looking to fill a couple of nights during the month. The commitment is only one night per month and if you pair up with someone it's only every second month!

This is a great way to 'do your part' for the Club like so many others have before you. If we don't have volunteers the bar is un-manned and this can be a problem when we have visiting teams and events on at the Club, not to mention thirsty members who need a drink!

No experience necessary and all training is provided - plus you get $50 off your membership each year and a few free drinks while you're there! Contact Jacqui in the office if interested.
