Hi all, just a few news stories today, apologies for the late notice on club champs for Sunday (tomorrow).
1. Club Champs Finals day this Sunday!
2. Trophy hunting
3. Gentlemen needed
Cheers
Sophie, Club Manager
Well what a great couple of weeks of tennis is has been down at the club! There have been some epic matches going down, with a record number of doubles matches going to super-tiebreakers! John & John broke the record for the longest rallies in their match against Matt & Aaron, and Jacqui and Natalie had us all feeling exhausted watching their 3 set battle in that heat! Hayden has clearly been having lob lessons with David as he pulled off some spectacular lofty shots in last nights awesome match with Macsen, against Pagey and Alastair.
All our finalists are almost all determined with just a couple of games still to be played. A huge thank you for everyone for working together to get matches played.
Finals day is this Sunday, kicking off at 12pm. Even if you’re not playing please come down for a beer or two and check out the action! The BBQ will be going, the couches will be out on the deck…. Do we need to go on?
Our finals so far are:
Mens Doubles – Allan R /Jason P vs. Brian P/Alastair S
Womens Singles – Natalie vs. Marina
Order of play
12pm
Mixed Doubles
Womens Singles
Mens Singles
Followed by:
Mens Doubles
Womens Doubles
BBQ + Prize giving
See you on Sunday!
As you know, we are nearing finals day for the Tennis Club Champs! But, Mother Hubbard, the cupboards are not as flush as they should be and we suspect there may be a few silver trophies still proudly displayed on previous winners' mantlepieces.
So, if you have a trophy, could you please return it? We know where you live...
Many of you may not know about our group of Racketeers - a small but impressive group committed to a weekly hit out of tennis. Self-named 'retired gentlemen', as the years pass, their numbers dwindle, but that does not stop them... however, they could do with an injection of fresh (if not young) blood. If any of you are available for a Gentlemanly spot of tennis on a Wednesday afternoon, do let me know. They'd love to hear from you!
