Hi all, in today's news, a reminder about the AGM, more on our Super Club Nights and Poker Night this Thurs, a new opportunity to enter tennis Club Champs and a summary of the very successful Squash Doubles Tournie on the weekend!

Please note that the Club Office will be closed on Friday so please pick up any balls for the weekend before then.

Have a great week, Sophie.

AGM Reminder

Don't forget the AGM is on tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 6:30. All courts will be closed and members are expected to attend. Gary's promised more sausages on the BBQ so stick around after for a drink and a bite to eat. We're still looking for nominations for the Committee roles - contact Sophie in the office if you have any queries on service@hernebayrackets.co.nz or 376 0681. For a proxy form, please let me know and I'll email it through - these need to be received before the meeting starts if you wish for someone else to represent you at the meeting.

Super Club Night Thursday - now including SQUASH!

There will be another massive night planned this Thursday for Club Night so get your best playing outfit on and head to the courts. Squash Club Night (from 7) will be joining the Tennis action (from 6:30) so all 8 courts will be open for all members and boards will be run upstairs and down... Another Chapel Bar and Bistro voucher will be up for grabs, the free BBQ will be back on and Happy Hour of course from 6:30-7:30. Don't forget your poker faces either as the Cousin's Shield boys will be running their Poker Night fundraiser. For details of that see posters on display or contact Sophie in the office.

Tennis Club Champs

Due to popular request, we'll now be running a B-level competition for those who are less likely to take the tournament out (yes, for people like me!). So if you don't fancy yourself as a Club Champ but DO want a piece of the action, sign up now! Entries via email to service@hernebayrackets.co.nz or enter your details on the sign up sheet outside the office.

HB Squash Doubles Wrap Up

The inaugural HB squash doubles tournament went off with a bang over the weekend with some huge matchups on court followed up with an awesome Saturday shindig with the band '3-0' partying on into the night.

The big Division 1 winners were Matt Taylor and Mark Roberts who outlasted Team Asahi -Chris Lloyd and Mark Smith in a thrilling 5-set encounter. After many hours spent on court over the weekend both T and Smithy were last spotted hobbling off home early on Sat night, hopefully the recovery session has gone well! Division 2 was taken out by Chris (Mario) von Biel and Becks (Luigi) Ellmers over Reece (is he wearing shorts underneath?) Le Roy and Emma Winstanley who wowed the crowd with their glorious hula girl costumes.

Futher highlights included a giant killing match with Brodie (lets play PAR15) Davis and Georgina (leftie) Shelton-Agar who took down top seeds George (Federer) Crosby and Snappa - the first (and only) time George has been beaten by a girl! Chris Lloyd earned himself the award for Best On Court Referee. Sarah Gilmore and our newest club member Sarah Laurenson took out Best Team Uniform for not 1 but 3 costume changes over the weekend, great effort girls.

Massive thanks to our sponsors and donations and to all the volunteers who helped out in the bar and kitchen over the tournie. Also thanks to the players who took part, and the extras that came along for the party on Sat night. All in all a fantastic tournie - time to start training for next year!
