New Tennis Online Booking System

We’re very excited to announce the imminent arrival of a new online booking system. At first this will just be for the tennis courts but if it all goes well then we might think about the squash courts too. At this stage only full, senior members will have access to the system and each of these members will receive their login details at some point next week. I’ll send a newsletter out to notify you of exactly when this will happen, but the changeover will be immediate and manual bookings will no longer be available from that day on.

There will be certain restrictions on bookings and these will be clearly explained on the site itself.

Please await further details when we launch this next week. In the meantime if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact Sophie on service@hernebayrackets.co.nz.

We expect this long-awaited service will be very helpful and useful for members!

Haven’t booked your Christmas Function yet?

Shame on you! Christmas decos are filling the stores before the Halloween pumpkins even get a look in this year, so there’s no excuse to not be thinking about where you and your colleagues are going to celebrate the end of another year this coming festive season.

Sick of the same old boring dinner every year? Why not organise a tournament at the Rackets Club? We can arrange packages for corporate events that include tennis tournaments, a very wallet friendly bar, a great venue, court hire and even catering! Contact Sophie on service@hernebayrackets.co.nz NOW so you don’t miss out as we only have limited dates to offer this on. Go on, show your colleagues you’re not just a boring desk jockey and impress them with your tennis/squash prowess… or just drag them all down here for a summer Barbie & Beer.

Disruption in the driveway

Auckland Council has a project to install a drinking fountain in the reserve opposite the car park entry into our club. There may be some disturbance along the driveway for the installation of the water pipe which they will rectify. They expected to start this work Tuesday gone (it’s Friday and I still haven’t seen them!).

WIN Heineken Open Tickets!! Got your attention?

Tennis Auckland is currently canvassing past and present club members, to attract input and opinion on their tennis experience. Below is a link to their survey and you are encouraged to complete the survey – what they find useful we find useful, so it’s of benefit to everyone! Plus you could enter a draw to win tickets to the Heineken Open in January. There is a different link for past and present members so please click on the correct link. Parents are encouraged to complete the survey on behalf of family members to help to ensure that they have a true reflection from both adult and junior members alike.

Please note that all surveys must be completed by the 11th October.

Tennis player aged 20-29 with an iPhone?

Saatchi & Saatchi are about to kick off a fun video project called Grab Life By The Bottle and are looking for a couple of tennis players to be involved! A cool series of TV ads will show clips of people using their Pump water bottle while they play tennis.

They have a cool device called the Pump Cam which is a rig that you pop your iPhone on at one end and your bottle of Pump water at the other and film yourself using your Pump bottle while doing your activity!

You would also be in to win!! There are prizes for the best videos, plus the top vids will get chosen to be on TV and the online campaigns…..!!! You can even win a Go Pro camera....

If all those exclamation marks have you itching with interest, please contact me on service@hernebayrackets.co.nz and I’ll send you the details.

Strength & stretch class

If you’re feeling the pain of the end of a long squash season, or the start of the tennis season, you should be strengthening and stretching those tired muscles in a new class right here at the Club!

From 6.45-7.45am on Tuesday mornings, Jacquelyn (a local osteopath, keen sportswoman and highly trained pilates and yoga teacher) will be running a class which is a combo of stretch based on pilates & yoga.

Classes are $17 or $150 for a block of 10. Contact her on 020 401 56584 for more details.

Kids Day at the ASB Classic

Tennis Auckland will be holding a ‘Kids Day’ at the ASB Tennis Arena on Monday 30th December 2014 during the ASB Classic and have invited 4 of our kids to come along. They will be issued with complimentary tickets to participate in the ‘Kids Day’ which also enables them to stay on and watch the day matches.

‘Kids Day’ provides an opportunity for kids between the ages of 8 - 13 to meet the players, gather autographs and participate in one hour of fun activities with our MC and players.

If your child is interested, please send their name and a contact number & email to service@hernebayrackets.co.nz by Thursday, 10th October. Please also indicate if you are interested in chaperoning. If we receive more than 4 interested kids we can request more, but we’ll do a random draw for the tickets we are allocated.
