Squash update
Hi all,
Welcome to the 2010 squash season! Autumn always seems to arrive far too fast
and with the fantastic weather we've had over the weekend it certainly doesn't seem l
ike the end of summer, but this week signals the start of autumn and with it the start
of the squash season.
For those that don't know, I'm the Squash VP this year! I'm hoping to keep the
momentum going that the squash crew has built up over the last few years,
if anyone has any suggestions for squash this year, hit me up at the club, I'm open to ideas!
I thought this would be a good time to give you an update on what coming up on
the squash scene this year:
- Autumn senior interclub: this week senior autumn interclub starts,
good luck to our nine teams entered in this competition. I hope to see a few pennants won!
Get on down to the club and support our teams on Monday and Tuesday nights.
- Senior club night: starting this week on Thursdays from 7pm.
Club night is a great way to meet new members, find other players of similar ability
or to get your eye back in after a summer off the court. Come on down on Thursday,
have a hit against a variety of players, have a few drinks and kick off the season.
Hope to see a few of you there!
- Junior club night: starting this week on Fridays from 4:30pm.
Look out for the juniors' newsletter which will be out shortly with further details.
- Herne Bay B grade and below tournament: our first tourney of the year is rolling around fast;
it will start Wed 17th March and run to Sat 20th March.
Entries for this close 12th March and can be
completed online at: www.hernebayrackets.co.nz/squash.cfm

- Grading list: The online grading list can now only be accessed by logging
onto the new Squash NZ IT system. If you were on the grading list last year
you will have been set up with a username and password that can be obtained
from our office manager. Just reply to this email and ask for it! If you weren't on the grading list
last year you will need to go to the Squash NZ website and set up an account.
That's just a quick summary of what's coming up on the squash scene.
Other things to look out for this year include: Bar tab night for last year
pennant winners (details out shortly to the lucky few), the super squash league,
fun doubles/handicap tournaments, exhibition matches, battle of the bridge
squash match versus North Shore. Other ideas welcomed!
Good luck for the squash season everyone.
Catch you around the club,
Michael Eyre
