Club Champs Finals Day this Sunday

The last rounds are being played (see updated draws here), and finals day is this Sunday, 7 April. You can check there who's still in the draw and finals match ups in the draw sheets.
So far the weather is looking fine, and we have an afternoon of festivities, music, and food (and a few tennis club champs finals games) happening at the club from midday.
Come on up and enjoy the day, bring friends and family, watch the tennis and make an afternoon of it.
Finals in all comps will be played through until prize giving at 5pm.

Check the club website Sunday morning for weather updates if a hurricane hits in the meantime, otherwise, see you there!
Free entry, food menu and drinks available via eftpos at the bar.
Any questions please contact Simon at tennisvp@hernebayrackets.co.nz.

Senior club night Thursday & Sunday club day

No club day this Sunday, as it's Club Champs finals day, but club night still runs this Thursday night from 6.30pm. New members welcome. Note some club champs games will be played Thursday evening.

Junior club night Friday, and junior programmes

Online Club Referee Exam

This is a great starting point for both new and experienced players to ensure you can be confident of the rules.

All players competing in competitive play such as interclub and tournaments are expected to have completed and passed the exam.

The exam consists of 50 multi-choice questions and can be fully completed online through the Squash NZ website.  The Club Referee qualification is valid for two years from the time of completion.  Both players and non-players are able to complete the exam.

Senior club night

Senior club night starts at 6.30pm on Thursdays. Come along and meet fellow club members.  We rotate games every 10-15 minutes

Junior club night

Join Jarrod and his team on Friday nights from 4pm to 6pm for coaching, fun games and just a little bit of competition.

Flooring update

Laying the new flooring in the lounge area is going really well and is due to finish early next week. Please do not put furniture on it if legs don’t have protective ends. Peta Drayton, Steve Livesay, Kylie McCracken, Shayne Hubert and Jack McKinney (who designed the New Zealand Home of the Year 2019 announced this week) have all had a hand in the process.

The chosen carpet for the area immediately outside the squash courts is not in stock unfortunately. It has now been ordered but is three to four weeks away. There were other options, but none as suitable as the selected (which took a fair bit to find with the issue of ball visibility). Considering we have already waited three months we have decided to wait for our preferred option.

Access cards

We have had a big clean up on our security system. If you find that your Access Card is not working please advise Pia at service@hernebayrackets.co.nz and she will fix this for you.

Lost property

A big thank you from Sacred Heart Church who received all the unclaimed lost property. A lot of hoodies and jackets were donated and these will be very helpful this winter for families living in poverty and new refugees families in New Zealand.

Visitor fees

We love that you want to share our Club with your friends. If they are not a member of the Club, they are welcome but please put $20 cash in the drop box next to the Pro Shop with your name on it if there is no one in the bar or in the office. Perhaps even entice them to join to avoid further visitor fee charges.

April membership renewals

All members whose membership expires in April will have received an email fron Pia last week. This week you should have received a phone call too. If you believe your membership is due in April and have not received an email or call, please contact the office. We are keen to have you all back this year!
