You asked, so you shall receive. Now that the major gym equipment and facility upgrades have been completed, it’s time to start developing a group fitness programme within HBPRC that supports its members with their various health, wellness, and performance goals. With that said, we’ve got some exciting news for HBPRC members for after they return from the school holidays.
Starting Tuesday, August 7th, there will be more group exercise options to complement the current Pilates offering. The first two classes to roll out will be HIIT Bootcamp and Yoga:
HIIT stands for high-intensity interval training. This 45-minute class is a full-body metabolic conditioning class that will have you crawling, jumping, stretching, pushing, and lunging into higher levels of fitness. The exercises and programming will be specifically catered to support racket sports, so expect to feel stronger and fitter in your game as you continue to attend classes.
The common misconception is that yoga is a lighter form of exercise, more suited for women than men. However, evidence suggests that a mind-body practice like yoga can be very effective in building strength and muscle, making it a valuable part of any fitness routine. Aside from an effective workout, you'll leave this class with a more flexible body and calmer mind.
COST: Each class is $15 for Gym Members and $20 for Non-Members.
Both classes will take place in the Squash Courts. To register your interest in the class and reserve a spot, email me directly: lukesniewski@gmail.com
*Please bring your own mat to class.
Entries are now open through iSquash, entry fee tbc, local players may be required to play Thursday night. Entries close Friday 28th July 5pm.
Senior club night starts at 6.30pm. We’re going to try something new and people can submit in advance that they want to play a game for points on the grading list. Please email: hbprcsquash@gmail.com if you want to play for points. Depending on numbers we will set aside some courts for points games and the other courts will have social games. George Crosby will run some coaching for people to take away and work on as well.
Due to school holidays - there is no junior club night on Friday. We resume on Friday 27th July.
If you are interested in playing interclub over summer email your details to tennisvp@hernebayrackets.co.nz. Entries close August 12th, and comp starts beginning September. Register now!
